Iconic Hotel De Havelet enjoys a (Little) green makeover

One of Guernsey’s most longstanding and well-known hotels has enjoyed a visual makeover and, more importantly, embraced environmentally friendly energy solutions. The iconic Hotel De Havelet has worked with The Little Green Energy Company to install 60 solar panels across its many terraced rooves. With the 60 solar panels based upon a 24.9 kWp SunPower PV system, The Little Green Energy Company anticipates that the Hotel de Havelet will now be able to generate and use 21,145 kWh of green power per year, reducing the amount of CO2 released into the atmosphere by 10,873 kg per year.

Not only is the new installation set to be a major cost saver for the hotel group, but it also demonstrates The Hotel de Havelet’s willingness to ensure a sustainable future for Guernsey.

Simon de la Rue, Head of Marketing and Sales at The Little Green Energy Company said: “It’s great to see key members of the hospitality industry embracing the possibilities of solar power. We have been working closely with the team at The Hotel de Havelet to install the panels , ensuring it is futureproofing its business and embracing the future, which is clearly favouring green, renewable energy solutions such as solar.”

Karel Harris, Managing Director of Sarnia Hotels said: “Sustainability is a key part of our values and is very important to our customers. Being able to put environmentally friendly power solutions into practice is essential and an ongoing trend we are seeing in our industry. I am pleased to see our newly installed solar panels, which will ensure we are doing all we can to keep our environmental footprint as small as possible while delivering the same great service for our customers.”
